“It started with the smell, the strong smell of ***** and *******, then the palate. It’s a pretty strange feeling, especially when you can’t see and you are in a “dark” room. It’s here that the contrast comes to light and makes you truly understand the difference between what you think gelato is, the gelato you find in the rest of the world, and gelato at Mokambo. I’m truly speechless. Raptured, to say the least!”

One of the points of criticism that we have often received, especially at the start, ever since the reopening of Mokambo has been:
“The flavors don’t have to be stored in the containers. Without seeing them, I don’t feel inspired [by the gelato] and consequently I can’t make a choice.”
Aside from the technical explanation as to why our gelato is stored in containers, there is one thing I would like you to pay attention to. This is for yours and your family’s sake.
Letting your eyes choose for you, not only gelato, is a habit that the media and society have created by convincing you that you must choose “the most beautiful” because that must necessarily be “the best”.
The shiniest and most colorful apples, the reddest tomatoes, the juiciest meats. These are just a few examples. Whether the link
Beautiful = Tastier
has some truth to it, we don’t know.
But here, we want to teach you this:
If it were true that by hiding our gelato, it wouldn’t speak to you and you wouldn’t feel inspired by it, then you would have probably NEVER read these lines, and we would have closed our doors before anybody had noticed us.
We have therefore given it some thought and have made a decision:
“What if we could let you feel our gelato, its aromas and its scents, without letting your eyesight get in the way?
Which flavors would you “feel”?
Which feelings would you grasp?
Would you be able to tell the difference between what something looks like and what it actually is?
What I’m talking about is:
A blindfolded tasting and olfactory experience.
Yes, you heard that right.
Let me introduce you to the…
“Mokambo Blind Experience”
The first ever Mokambo Gelateria experience where you are completely blindfolded.
Savor the aromas and scents released by the gelato with your other senses and let yourself be guided by your palate and your sense of smell.
No eyesight, no inspiration. Only raw materials at their full strength for an extraordinary gastronomic experience.
This experience is NOT for you if...
- You prefer traditional and simple tasting experiences: If gelato for you is just a sweet habit and you’re not seeking novelty or quality.
- You don't distinguish or don't give importance to raw materials: If you don't care about the difference between a high quality pistachio and a standard one, or if gelato for you is a quick pleasure and not an experience to be enjoyed.
- You see gelato as a simple snack and not a gastronomic experience: If you are not interested in exploring the subtitles of flavor and texture that artisanal gelato can offer.
- You are not willing to invest in a unique tasting experience: If you do not see the value of a sensory experience that goes beyond what is visual, and prefer more conventional tasting experiences.
- You prefer conventional experiences and are not looking for something different: If you are not attracted by the possibility of exploring new dimensions/horizons in the world of gastronomy.
- You don't give importance to the food preparation process: If you only eat to fill yourself up and are not interested in the history, provenance or quality of the ingredients.
This experience is FOR You if...
- You're a true gelato enthusiast: You treat each spoonful as a sensory discovery, exploring its unique, artisanal flavors.
- You know and appreciate high-quality raw materials: you distinguish and value the origin and processing of the ingredients in gelato.
- Good food is part of your life: Every meal is an opportunity to celebrate the culinary art, and you favor rich and complex sensory experiences.
- You seek elegance and originality in your experiences: You favor activities that stimulate your senses in innovative ways, avoiding the ordinary.
- You want to experience a different and stimulating Friday evening: You are attracted by unique experiences that break the routine, especially during winter evenings.
